12th Annual See Spot Run: 5k Fun Run & Doggie Dash
All residents of Yakima County are encouraged to participate in the 2014 See Spot Run: 5k Fun Run & Doggie Dash artwork contest. Winning artwork will appear on our 12th Annual See Spot Run t-shirt! Download Artwork Entry Form
Theme: Get creative! Have fun! We want YOU to design our 12th Annual See Spot Run t-shirt! We are looking for artwork that portrays a dog or dogs participating in this year’s 5k Fun Run & Doggie Dash.
Size: Artwork must be drawn horizontally or vertically on a letter sized (8 1/2” x 11”) page. Due to printing requirements, no 3-D or collages will be accepted. All artwork must be original. Artwork not meeting these specifications will be ineligible for the contest.
Materials: Plain white paper, white board, construction board, or art board may be used as long as size requirements are met. Please use crayons, felt pens, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, poster paints, or grease pencils. Digital, computer, or electronically generated art is prohibited. Please use no more than 4 colors.
Release: A completed, signed Release Form must be firmly taped to the back of each artwork entry. Artwork submitted to the contest becomes the property of the Yakima Humane Society and may not be returned to the artist.
Judging: The winner will be selected by the Board of Directors and notified by April 7th, 2014.
Prize: The winning entry will receive two t-shirts portraying his/her artwork, a Kindle Fire, and recognition in the Yakima Humane Society’s newsletter. The artwork of the winning entrant and honorable mention nominees will be displayed prominently in the shelter before and during the event.
Entries must be received by the Yakima Humane Society no later than 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 5th, 2014. You may mail or deliver your entry in person to the:

You can support the thousands of pets that enter the shelter every year by gathering pledges from family, friends, neighbors, coworkers and just about anybody else you can think of. As a thank you for your hard work and commitment to helping homeless pets, you are eligible to receive great prizes. Information & Registration
When: Sunday — April 27th, 2014 from 11am – 2pm
Where: Same Day Registration & Starting point at Sherman Park next to the Yakima Humane Society
**Same Day Registration 9am to 10:30am (T-shirts for Same Day Registration are in very limited supply - don't be disappointed - please Pre-Register to guarantee your shirt!)
Who: Everyone — with or without their four-legged companions! All levels of fitness and ability are welcome. A short course is available for those that prefer that option.
Why: Our 12th annual fun run/walk promises to be our best yet! Join over 500 animal enthusiasts showing their support for homeless pets while enjoying the great outdoors — not to mention a bit of healthy fun. Bring your own furry friend(s) along, or walk one of our adoptable dogs.
How: Register Now. Pre-registration is available until April 16th, 2014 at midnight. Registration includes an event t-shirt (2 for family registration), doggie bandana, and waste bags. Download Registration Packet

What: The 5k/3.1 mile course will begin in Sherman Park (next to the shelter) and takes you across the beautiful Arboretum grounds along Robertson Landing and onto the Yakima Greenway Path next to the Yakima River. Short course option also available.
Awards: Awards to top three in the following divisions: Men, Women, Men with Canine Companion, and Women with Canine Companion. Also, awards to top three juniors in the following divisions: 15-18 years, 11-14 years, and 10 & under (no gender distinction).
All dogs must be licensed and current on their vaccinations.
Dogs must be leashed (no longer than six feet) at ALL TIMES. No flexi or retractable leashes.
No aggressive dogs, dogs younger than 6 months, or female dogs in heat.
Dog handlers must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult at ALL TIMES.
